The Team
Roy's puzzles have appeared in the New York Times, GAMES Magazine, and a multitude of other newspapers, books, and collections around the world. He has constructed thousands of puzzles ranging from crosswords to cryptograms to logic puzzles, and even a few physical puzzles and games. Between puzzles, Roy's had time to build groundbreaking products in desktop productivity, early tablet computers, web publishing, and interactive education, shipping more than 25 products over the years. He has ten patents and another eleven pending. He founded and serves as CTO of Puzzazz, his eighth startup company.
Chip is a hardcore anagrams and Scrabble player with a gift for wordplay. He has fond memories of playing ESQUIRES for 263 points at a Scrabble tournament. When not rearranging letters, he's been known to work on intensely difficult mathematical algorithms for computer systems as well as occasional user-facing code in Java, Python, and JavaScript.
Scott grew up solving every kind of puzzle except word puzzles. In college, he tried his first crossword puzzle and discovered that word puzzles were okay, too. It wasn't much of a leap from there to cryptic crosswords and beyond. In the world of computers, C# is his favorite all-around programming language, but he spends a lot of his time in Python and JavaScript, especially for Puzzazz, where he works on the web site and social networking infrastructure.
Jill likes calm, relaxing puzzles, but most days she feels like she's playing a live version of Tetris, fitting colorful shapes and other elements together in attractive patterns within a finite space, all while the clock is ticking. Before creating beautiful art for Puzzazz, Jill worked in the Nordstrom and Eddie Bauer advertising departments and has designed logos for start-ups, real estate firms, and construction company clients. She's also illustrated children's books, educational posters, handbags, art for tattoos, and, of course, puzzles.
