David Steinberg has been constructing puzzles since he was twelve, and had his first crossword puzzle published in the New York Times when he was fourteen. His crosswords have also appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Fireball Crosswords, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. He is a member of the National Puzzlers’ League and tries to attend as many puzzle events and tournaments as possible.
David directs the Pre-Shortzian Puzzle Project (http://www.preshortzianpuzzleproject.com/), a massive endeavor with the ultimate goal of creating a fully analyzable database of the New York Times crosswords published before Will Shortz became editor. He is the sole proprietor of a custom crossword business (http://www.customcrossword.com/), and runs a website for teens on computer science careers. Currently a high school student in Southern California, he hopes to become a computer scientist.
